Basketball Recap: Pinson Valley Indians vs. Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Pinson Valley Indians had no problem doing just that on Monday. They claimed a resounding 69-35 victory over the Blue Devils on the road. Given Pinson Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Blue Devils are ranked 91st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pinson Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Clyde Walters led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Walters has been hot recently, having posted eight or more assists the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Coner, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Pinson Valley has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. As for Mortimer Jordan, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-11.
Pinson Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mortimer Jordan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
