Baseball Game Preview: Southwest Raiders vs. Springtown Porcupines

The Southwest Raiders will square off against the Springtown Porcupines at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Springtown took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Southwest, who comes in off a win.

Southwest barely beat Western Hills the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Cougars on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won five in a row.

Jaxon Moss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Ricky Winters was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colton Moss, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Southwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Western Hills only posted an OBP of .200.

Meanwhile, Springtown has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.96 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They came up short against Decatur, falling 10-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Porcupines haven't been shut out since back in March.

Southwest's win bumped their record up to 10-17. As for Springtown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-10-1.
