It was a proper cat-fight when Haddam-Killingworth challenged Cromwell on Tuesday. The Cougars blew past the Panthers 15-4. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Emma Giaccone made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Haddam-Killingworth got a massive performance out of Grace Natanzon, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Grace LaConte, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Haddam-Killingworth's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Cromwell, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Haddam-Killingworth will challenge rival Old Lyme at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 2.5, the Wildcats 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Cromwell is set to face off against their familiar foe Portland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
