League recap: General McLane rises in state rank

District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA recap November 13, 2013

General McLane scaled the state rankings by moving to 135 from 162 this week, the biggest jump in District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA. The Lancers climbed the ranks as a result of topping Warren 55-25.

General McLane took down the Dragons 55-25 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tyler Sanders ran for 198 yards and caught 0 passes for 27 yards in the win.

Jim Wells' team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zach Fox threw for 126 and 2 touchdowns and Clay Smith had 88 yards receiving. On the ground Sanders chipped in 198 yards. Sanders helped General McLane's passing attack out by catching 0 balls for 27 yards.

The Lancers' dynamic duo of Fox and Smith proved tough for Warren to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Mohomad Kanj made the biggest impact on defense this week as General McLane bested Brad Wright's team. The 6-foot-4 senior forced 1 fumble and recorded 2 fumbles.

Sanders provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Lancers defeated the Dragons. Sanders' favorite target this week was Smith, who caught 4 passes for 88 yards.

Cathedral Prep's Billy Fessler and Felix Manus-Schell have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Fessler has thrown for 2,102 yards this season, while Manus-Schell has 25 catches for 446 yards. Sanders from General McLane leads the league in rushing with 1,297 yards.

The Lancers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Warren. Sanders during the win.
