Basketball Game Preview: Olympus Titans vs. Alta Hawks

The Olympus Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Alta Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olympus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.

Olympus is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Brighton on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Olympus had to suffer through a 66-36 loss at the hands of Brighton. The matchup marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Joss Baker, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 boards. She has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 18 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Tessa Cromar, who posted three points and three steals.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Alta on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Highland out of the water with a 52-22 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Hawks had established a 28 point advantage.

Olympus better focus on containing Alia Baldassano and Quincy Kegel as the pair were huge in Alta's win. Baldassano had 20 points, while Kegel earned 19 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Kegel has scored at least a third of Alta's points. Hailey Bodell also deserves some recognition as she scored her first point of the season.

Alta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Olympus, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Olympus barely slipped by Alta in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 38-37. Will Olympus repeat their success, or does Alta have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
