Baseball Game Preview: Heritage Coyotes vs. Denton Broncos

The Heritage Coyotes will challenge the Denton Broncos at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Heritage is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

On Friday, Heritage didn't have quite enough to beat Independence and fell 5-4.

Brady Jacobson put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Jacobson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bubba Hancock, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Hancock hit this season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Denton and Richland meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Denton came out on top against Richland by a score of 6-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Broncos as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Diego Medina, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Perez, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Denton's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-8-2. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11-1.
