Crystal City had won four straight  games  and  Adrian Zavala did his part to make it five on Friday. The Javelinas came within five  points of losing the streak, but they secured  a   27-22 W against the Carrizo Springs Wildcats for which the team can thank  Zavala, who rushed for 120 yards and a pair of  TDs. Zavala is  crushing it when it comes to  rushing yards: he's   rushed for at least 120 every time he's  taken the field this season.
Crystal City's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Carrizo Springs,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 1-4.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crystal City will have some time to savor their  victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Jourdanton at 7:00  p.m.  on October 10. This will  be the Javelinas' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Carrizo Springs, they will face off against Robstown at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Cottonpickers' defense has only allowed 8.6  points per game  this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them.
