Recap: Hamilton Marines vs. JV Opponent
The Hamilton Marines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 51-35 to JV Opponent. Hamilton lost against JV Opponent in their previous head to head on Tuesday, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 57-35 score last time.
Hamilton's loss came despite strong showings from Andrew Merritt and Chase Olson. Merritt scored 14 points, while Olson scored four points. Merritt scored a full 40% of Hamilton's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Hamilton were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Hamilton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for JV Opponent, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Hamilton will be home for the holidays to greet Edon at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. JV Opponent will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis at 4:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
