Preview: Byrd Yellow Jackets vs. Haughton Buccaneers
The Byrd Yellow Jackets will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Haughton Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Byrd and 11 for Haughton.
Last Friday, Byrd took a serious blow against Captain Shreve, falling 71-27. While losing is never fun, Byrd can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 1057th, while Captain Shreve is ranked 80th).
While Haughton couldn't quite beat Parkway on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 34-point defeat they were dealt on Tuesday. Haughton fell just short of Parkway by a score of 59-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Byrd has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season. As for Haughton, they dropped their record down to 9-20 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home.
Byrd was able to grind out a solid victory over Haughton in their previous matchup back in January, winning 62-55. Will Byrd repeat their success, or does Haughton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
