Volleyball Recap: Mica Mountain Thunderbolts vs. Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks
After flying high against Walden Grove last Thursday, Mica Mountain came back down to earth. The Thunderbolts fell just short of the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Thunderbolts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Nighthawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.
Mica Mountain was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Ironwood Ridge work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-16, 28-26, 19-25, 22-25, 16-14.
Despite the defeat, Mica Mountain saw an underclassman step up: sophomore MIA PARKER had six digs, four aces, and one block. PARKER has been hot recently, having also posted 19 or more assists the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was VANEZIA LOPEZ, who had six aces and four digs.
