Basketball Game Preview: Scotland Fighting Scots vs. Purnell Swett Rams

The Scotland Fighting Scots will head out on the road to square off against the Purnell Swett Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Scotland will head out to face Purnell Swett after giving up their first home loss of the season on Friday. Scotland fell 43-35 to Union Pines. While losing is never fun, the Fighting Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Vikings are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, Purnell Swett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost to Gray's Creek on the road by a 48-34 margin. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly 14 points.

Scotland's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-6. As for Purnell Swett, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.

Everything went Scotland's way against Purnell Swett when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Scotland made off with a 55-30 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Scotland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
