Softball Recap: St. Bernard's Crusaders vs. Fortuna Huskies
St. Bernard extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 10-14 in the process. They lost 13-0 to the Fortuna Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 back in March.
As for Fortuna, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 matches by six runs or more this season.
For Fortuna's part, Isabel Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Sanchez has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Evalynn Little was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Sophia Castillo was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
St. Bernard's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fortuna, they have already played their next game, a 7-3 victory against South Fork on the 15th.
