Softball Recap: California Wins Going Away Against Monte Vista

While California put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Monte Vista. Everything went the California Grizzlies' way against the Monte Vista Mustangs as the California Grizzlies made off with an 11-0 victory. The Grizzlies have beaten the Mustangs the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mustangs has come to flipping the script.

Gabriella Nudo looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shayla Santolucito was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Alina Curiel was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

California was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monte Vista only posted a batting average of .000.

California's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Monte Vista, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

California will venture away from home to take on San Ramon Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (San Ramon Valley 1.7, California 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Monte Vista, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Archie Williams at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
