Baseball Recap: Clay Triumphs

Clay won the last time they faced Oakleaf and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Blue Devils walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Knights. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Ethan Mathis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Mathis was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Clay now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Oakleaf, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Looking ahead, Clay will be taking part in a tournament against The Master's Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Blue Devils 4, the Eagles 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Oakleaf, they will head out to take on Keystone Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
