            Softball Preview: Calhoun Red Devils vs. Gilmer County Titans        
        
		
        
        
            Calhoun hasn't had much luck against Gilmer County recently, but that could start to change  on Friday. The Red Devils will challenge the Titans at 5:00  p.m. Calhoun has given up an average of 13.1  runs per game this season, but Friday's  game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Calhoun came into their game  on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost  17-0 to Wahama. The  match marked the first time this year in which the Red Devils were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for Gilmer County, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by  a  9-1 margin over Tygarts Valley on Thursday. Considering the Titans have won nine contests by more than seven  runs this season, Thursday's  blowout was nothing new.
  Kaelyn Mullins was  incredible,  scoring two  runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave  her a new career-high in  RBI (three). Another player making a difference was  Alexis Stoddard, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
 Gilmer County's victory was  their sixth straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 9-5. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Calhoun, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
 Calhoun might still be hurting after the  23-2 loss they got from Gilmer County  in their previous meeting  back in April of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
