had a comfortable lead entering the fourth quarter, but used seven fourth
quarter points to seal the 40-14 victory over
Cortez (Phoenix, Ariz.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Kaleb Buchholz in the second
quarter, the Coyotes led 14-0 at the half.
Arizona Lutheran Academy saw its 14-point halftime lead fall to seven entering
the fourth.
Tyler Koehler stood out for ALA in the win.
The senior quarterback
threw three touchdowns
and
ran for one touchdown.
The Coyotes had struggled this season, allowing 56.0 points per game.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Arizona Lutheran Academy,
which was coming off a 56-48 defeat at the hands of Phoenix Christian in its
previous game. Cortez has now lost two games in a row, including a 54-7 loss
versus Buckeye last week. The victory snapped ALA's 2-game losing streak.
Cortez (0-2) goes up against Coronado in a non-conference game matchup next
week, while Arizona Lutheran Academy (1-2) locks horns with
Pusch Ridge Christian Academy in a non-conference game.
