After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Ardrey Kell, Providence was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Myers Park Mustangs by a score of 3-1. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2023.
Providence had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 13-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-23.
Niamh Mahon paced Providence's offense, picking up 13 kills. Mahon got some help from Allie Johnsey and her 20 assists. Josie Swartz and Logan Phillips kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with four aces apiece.
Providence's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Myers Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence will take on Rocky River at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Myers Park, they will challenge Garinger at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
