Volleyball Recap: St. Xavier Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, St. Xavier couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the St. Ignatius Wildcats by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Bombers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Joe Taggart paced St. Xavier's offense, picking up 29 kills. Taggart got some help from Cam Evans and his 54 assists. Rece Hausfeld controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

St. Xavier moved to 23-3 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for St. Ignatius, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 24-3.

St. Xavier does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Ignatius, they will take on Thomas Worthington at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The CARDINALS will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight.
