Baseball Recap: Fisher Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

The matchup between Fisher and Salmen on Saturday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Fisher Gators were the clear victor by a 17-2 margin over the Salmen Spartans. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Haiden Martin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Charles Shamp was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. Fisher is undefeated when Shamp posts two or more runs, but 0-2-1 otherwise. Patrick Henderson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

Fisher always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Fisher's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs over those games. As for Salmen, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 1-5-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fisher will welcome Booker T. Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Salmen, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Edna Karr at 3:00 p.m.
