Baseball Recap: Lake Gibson's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

While Lake Gibson's win against Davenport wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Braves won by a run and slipped past the Broncos 6-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Braves as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Lake Gibson got a great performance from Stetson Jones as he struck out ten batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave Jones a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Dalton Cone and Zach Roth did most of the damage at the plate: Cone scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Roth scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Adiel Fundora also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Lake Gibson's win bumped their record up to 6-17. As for Davenport, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-17.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Lake Gibson will square off against Durant at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Davenport, they will be playing at home against Tenoroc at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Broncos are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on an 18-game losing streak.
