Softball Recap: Pope County Comes Up Short

Pope County fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Hardin County on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 7-6. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Bella Fasolo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Pope County's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Hardin County, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-15.

Coming up, Pope County will square off against Massac County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hardin County will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' game: after the Pirates face off against the Patriots, they'll take on Hardin County again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
