Basketball Game Preview: Tuba City Warriors vs. Valley Christian Trojans

The Tuba City Warriors and the Valley Christian Trojans will face off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Tuba City will be strutting in after a win while Valley Christian will be coming in after a loss.

Tuba City saw some tournament action on Friday. They blew past Rancho Solano Prep 66-31.

Tuba City found their leader in freshman Layla Curtis, who went 11-for-20 on her way to 29 points and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Curtis has scored at least a third of the Warriors' points. Jaylinn Acothley was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Tuba City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, Valley Christian lost to Mesquite on the road by a 48-34 margin on Friday. The loss put an end to the Trojans' undefeated start to the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Valley Christian fell to 2-1. As for Tuba City, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Tuba City skirted past Valley Christian 48-46 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
