Softball Game Preview: Kenedy Lions vs. Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats

The Kenedy Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Kenedy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Pettus on Friday. The Lions blew past the Eagles 19-3. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won four in a row.

Isabella Ortiz and Madison Byron did most of the damage at the plate: Ortiz scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Byron scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave Ortiz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Davila, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Kenedy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Skidmore-Tynan has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.84 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They put the hurt on Yorktown with a sharp 24-10 win.

Kenedy's record is now 16-10-1. As for Skidmore-Tynan, their record now sits at 21-4.

Kenedy took their victory against Skidmore-Tynan in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
