Softball Game Preview: Chavez Titans vs. Sierra Pacific Golden Bears

The Chavez Titans will challenge the Sierra Pacific Golden Bears at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday. Sierra Pacific took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Chavez, who comes in off a win.

Last Monday, Chavez got the win against Foothill by a conclusive 12-1. The Titans have beaten the Trojans the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Trojans has come to flipping the script.

Madyson Herrera made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Elizondo, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Haley McClintock was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Sierra Pacific didn't have quite enough to beat Immanuel on Friday and fell 7-6. The Golden Bears have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Misha Soares was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jaynee Campos, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Chavez's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Sierra Pacific, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-7.
