Hagerstown is on an 18-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Union a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Hagerstown Tigers will welcome the Union Rockets at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when Hagerstown duked it out withFranklin County on Saturday. Hagerstown took a blow against Franklin County, falling 62-6. The matchup marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Skylar Brown was Hagerstown's leading scorer, having posted three points. Bella Thalls held things down on the boards with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Union was beaten by Monroe Central 57-15 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Golden Bears are ranked 153rd).
Hagerstown will have to keep a close watch on Glory Ellis and Kenzy Ogden, a pair of players who had a big impact on Union's prior game. Ellis posted six points along with six boards and three blocks, while Ogden scored six points in addition to ten rebounds and three blocks. Ellis is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last 13 games she's played.
Hagerstown's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Union, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Hagerstown has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Hagerstown might still be hurting after the 39-15 loss they got from Union in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Will Hagerstown have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
