Kennedy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 69-58 to the Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy Lions. Even though they lost, the Commanders' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.4 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Several Commanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Quinn Padilla, who went 6-for-12 en route to 13 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Xavier Benavidez, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.
Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jackson Taylor out in front who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 16 boards. The game was Taylor's sixth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylan Jones, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds.
Kennedy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-15.
Kennedy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-48 victory against Hinkley on the 20th. As for Robert F. Smith STEAM Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 45-38 win against DMLK on the 20th.
