Baseball Game Preview: Montrose Rams vs. Carrollton Cavaliers

The Montrose Rams will square off against the Carrollton Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Montrose has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Millington hit Montrose with a six-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams came up short against the Cardinals, falling 11-1. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Montrose saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Gross, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Gross has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played.

Meanwhile, Carrollton didn't have quite enough to beat Nouvel Catholic Central on Monday and fell 6-5.

Eli Simons was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Ethan Hebl also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Carrollton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Montrose, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Montrose couldn't quite get it done against Carrollton in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 as they fell 7-4. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
