Basketball Game Preview: McQueen Lancers vs. Galena Grizzlies

The McQueen Lancers will face off against the Galena Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. McQueen has now lost 15 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 27.

McQueen is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Reno on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. McQueen lost 62-40 to Reno. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Huskies are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, Galena was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 47-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Damonte Ranch.

McQueen will have to keep a close watch on Julia Imse and Mia Turner, a pair of players who had a big impact on Galena's prior game. Imse dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards, while Turner almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Imse has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Sommers, who posted four points.

Galena's loss dropped their record down to 8-18. As for McQueen, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-22.

McQueen came up short against Galena in their previous meeting back in January, falling 51-45. Can McQueen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
