Softball Recap: Clare Gets the Win

Clare had won three straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped up to 14-10 to make it four. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Beal City Aggies 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Pioneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

As for Beal City, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-9. Having soared to a lofty 27 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Beal City's part, Emma Block spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. Block has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Beal City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addy Sanders, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Clare will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Aggies: the pair will be back at it again later today.
