Baseball Game Preview: Granite Bay Grizzlies vs. Davis Sr. Blue Devils

The Granite Bay Grizzlies will head out to take on the Davis Sr. Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Granite Bay has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Granite Bay gave up the first runs last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Folsom 9-7. The Grizzlies haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Granite Bay let Tim Ayers and Jace Bystrowski run wild. Ayers went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, while Bystrowski went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Ayers a new career-high.

Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Davis Sr. ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Del Oro.

Davis Sr. saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Burnham, who scored a run while going 2-for-5. Jackson Vogt also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Granite Bay's record now sits at 7-9. As for Davis Sr., their record is now 10-6-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Granite Bay has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Davis Sr. struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Granite Bay took their win against Davis Sr. in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
