Football Recap: Fernandina Beach Takes a Loss

Monday just wasn't the day for Fernandina Beach's offense. They took a 6-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Nassau Warriors. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Danyelle Bell continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Nassau, rushing for 52 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, while also picking up 30 receiving yards. Bell didn't just play on offense: she also made one tackle and defended four passes in addition to snagging an interception. Reagan Overstreet also deserves some recognition as she posted her first receiving yards of the season.

Fernandina Beach's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for West Nassau, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Fernandina Beach will challenge University Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fernandina Beach's defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so University Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for West Nassau, they will venture away from home to challenge First Coast at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
