Basketball Game Preview: Marysville Getchell vs. Stanwood Spartans

Marysville Getchell is 2-7 against Stanwood since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Marysville Getchell will head out on the road to challenge the Stanwood Spartans at 6:30 p.m.

Marysville Getchell is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 55 points on Friday, they were much more limited against Snohomish on Wednesday. They took a blow against the Panthers, falling 57-8. While losing is never fun, Marysville Getchell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while Snohomish is ranked 65th).

Meanwhile, Stanwood came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their match with ease, bagging a 69-23 win over the Seagulls. The Spartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 25 points or more this season.

Marysville Getchell's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Stanwood, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.

Marysville Getchell took a serious blow against Stanwood in their previous matchup on January 3rd, falling 75-15. Can Marysville Getchell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
