For the first time this season, Gulfport will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will challenge the Ocean Springs Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Gulfport is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Pascagoula: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Admirals blew the Panthers out of the water with a 53-13 final score. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Admirals had established a 26-point advantage.
Cooper Crosby had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 90 yards and a pair of scores, while also picking up 31 receiving yards and one TD. Isaiah Ellison was another key back, rushing for 57 yards and one touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Gulfport was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Gulfport's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Deandre Williams was especially locked on to Pascagoula's QB and sacked him three times. Williams is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least seven every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Pascagoula's side was Javon Anderson, who picked up 1.5 sacks, forced two fumbles, and made four total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Ocean Springs strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 31-6 margin over Biloxi. Given the Greyhounds' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Indians are ranked 43rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ocean Springs' win came from a few key players Gulfport will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lanny Waltman, who rushed for 72 yards and three scores on only nine carries. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Hayden Berglind also helped out with an impressive 82 receiving yards.
Ocean Springs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Eli Chennault, Ayden Watson, and Lucas Sinopoli picked up one apiece. Ocean Springs got some further help from Brody Saenz: he picked up a sack, made five total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended two passes.
Ocean Springs' record now sits at 5-0. As for Gulfport, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Gulfport lost to Ocean Springs on the road by a decisive 20-3 margin in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Admirals avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
