Soccer Game Preview: Robert C. Byrd vs. Elkins

The Robert C. Byrd Eagles will square off against the Elkins Tigers at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Robert C. Byrd's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Robert C. Byrd fell victim to Morgantown and their airtight defense on Thursday. They lost 3-0 to the Mohigans.

Meanwhile, Elkins' game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They put the hurt on Keyser with a sharp 4-1 victory. Elkins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by three goals or more this season.

Tristan Whited and Hayden Ferguson scored all four of Elkins' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Elkins pushed their record up to 13-3-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four contests. As for Robert C. Byrd, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6-2.
