Basketball Game Preview: St. Anthony Saints vs. Serra Cavaliers

The St. Anthony Saints will square off against the Serra Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Wednesday, St. Anthony came up short against St. Bernard and fell 67-59.

Meanwhile, Serra also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to St. Paul by a score of 55-48. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 584th, while the Swordsmen are ranked 129th).

St. Anthony will need focus on slowing down Khary Wilder, one of several Serra players who made an impact when they last played. He dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Wilder's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Chinemerem Anyikwa was another key player, putting up 16 points and five rebounds.

Serra has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-7 record this season. As for St. Anthony, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

St. Anthony strolled past Serra in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 70-55. Will St. Anthony repeat their success, or does Serra have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
