Baseball Recap: Wayne County Gets the Win

Wayne County won the last time they faced Stringer and things went their way on Saturday too. The War EaglesLady War Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Red Devils.

Talon Tate made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Wayne County got a massive performance out of Jon Michael Pitts, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Pitts is becoming a predictor of the War EaglesLady War Eagles' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't). Colt Branch was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Wayne County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2025.

Wayne County's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Stringer, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
