Softball Recap: North Summit Comes Up Short

North Summit extended their losing streak to 17 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 1-18 in the process. They came up short against the Providence Hall Patriots, falling 13-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Braves of the 17-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

North Summit saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was TAYLOR THORUP, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

As for Providence Hall, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8. Considering they have won 12 games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

On Providence Hall's side, Taycee Metts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Metts has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Providence Hall let Madelyn Johnson and Alysa Marcek run wild. Johnson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Marcek went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Johnson has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aspyn Patterson-Bodell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

North Summit does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Providence Hall, they will face off against Judge Memorial Catholic at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
