Softball Recap: Athens Wildcats vs. Mifflinburg Wildcats
With a playoff game on the line, Athens rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged the Mifflinburg Wildcats out 2-1. The win was familiar territory for Athens who now have four in a row.
Athens saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Savannah Persun, who went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Persun has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances.
Athens is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Mifflinburg, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-5.
