Softball Game Preview: Taravella Trojans vs. Coral Glades Jaguars

Taravella is 2-7 against Coral Glades since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Taravella Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Coral Glades Jaguars at 5:30 p.m.

Taravella easily dispatched Plantation on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Taravella fell just short of South Broward by a score of 6-4 on Monday.

Meanwhile, Coral Glades was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victor by an 8-2 margin over Fort Lauderdale.

Addison Schwartzberg made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Briana Escobar, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Dilynn Douge also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Coral Glades kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Coral Glades is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. Taravella's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Taravella suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Coral Glades when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Taravella avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
