Soccer Game Preview: River Valley vs. Galena

River Valley has gone a perfect 10-0 against Galena recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Blackhawks will square off against the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While River Valley's win against Lakeside Lutheran wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blackhawks had just enough and edged out the Warriors 3-2. The victory continues a trend for River Valley in their matchups with Lakeside Lutheran: they've now won three in a row.

River Valley's lineup was just a bit different on Friday as Hannah Burchfield got a bit more time on the pitch (80 vs. her season average of 50). Burchfield made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Galena). Everything went their way against Richland Center on Monday as they made off with a 3-0 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Galena picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-5-1. As for River Valley, their record is now 6-1-1.

River Valley got the 'W' in their previous matchup two weeks ago against Galena by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackhawks since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
