Baseball Game Preview: Saline Hornets vs. Edison Academy Pioneers

The Saline Hornets will take on the Edison Academy Pioneers in a tournament on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Saline 2.7, Edison Academy 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Saline's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Milan as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Hornets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Edison Academy entered their tilt with Lincoln on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Railsplitters by a score of 5-1.

Edison Academy pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Saline, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6-1.

Saline came out on top in a nail-biter against Edison Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
