Volleyball Recap: Howell Central Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Howell Central put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Fort Zumwalt South Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Spartans have posted since April 27, 2024.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Howell Central who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 22-25, 15-11.

Jason Cambell paced Howell Central's offense, picking up 20 kills. Cambell got some help from Chase Williams and his 35 assists. Finally, Ethyn Durham kept Howell Central's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Howell Central's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Fort Zumwalt South, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Howell Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against De Smet Jesuit on the 29th. As for Fort Zumwalt South, they will head out on the road to challenge Fort Zumwalt North at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
