It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Granite Hills had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the St. Augustine Saints. The Eagles are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 16 straight.

Luke Bailey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.

At the plate, Trevor Smith was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Tommy Entrekin, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Granite Hills' win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-0-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for St. Augustine, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-10-1.

St. Augustine has already played their next contest, an 8-2 win against Del Norte on the 24th. Hopefully Granite Hills paid attention to the Saints' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Saints at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
