Basketball Game Preview: Nueces Canyon Panthers vs. D'Hanis Cowboys

Nueces Canyon is 0-10 against D'Hanis since January of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Nueces Canyon Panthers will take on the D'Hanis Cowboys at 6:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Nueces Canyon came up short against Knippa and fell 57-45. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, D'Hanis entered their tilt with Leakey on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 61-21 win over the Eagles. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.

D'Hanis' win came from a few key players Nueces Canyon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brent Frosch, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.4 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Kase Braden, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards.

D'Hanis has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Nueces Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 2-19.

Nueces Canyon was taken down by D'Hanis 61-28 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Nueces Canyon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
