Baseball Recap: Franklin Road Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lipscomb Academy, Franklin Road Academy was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the University School of Nashville Tigers. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Gavin Gadsey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gadsey was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nicholas Potts, who scored two runs while going 4-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Berrin Zenner, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Franklin Road Academy's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for University School of Nashville, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Franklin Road Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against University School of Nashville: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
