Muir hasn't had much luck against Crescenta Valley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will take on the Falcons at 3:45 p.m. Muir is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.

Muir fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Burroughs on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 2-1.

Muir saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ariel (Shorty) Flores, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crescenta Valley). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Burbank a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Mila Reddy was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Megumi Ono, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Crescenta Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.

Muir's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Crescenta Valley, their record now sits at 6-4.

Muir's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's game. The Mustangs have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Crescenta Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Muir continue to outrun the ball?

Muir might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Crescenta Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
