Basketball Game Preview: Waldron Mohawks vs. Triton Central Tigers

Waldron hasn't had much luck against Triton Central recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Waldron Mohawks will challenge the Triton Central Tigers at 8:00 p.m. Waldron knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Triton Central likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Waldron rang in the new year with a 59-49 victory over Brown County.

Meanwhile, Triton Central was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 48-42 to Roncalli. The match marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Eli Sego and Conner Kesler. Kesler had a solid game and posted nine points and eight rebounds. Meanwhile, Sego did his best for the losing side, going 7 of 15 on his way to 17 points and five assists.

Waldron's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Triton Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.

Waldron came up short against Triton Central in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 60-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sego, who went 8 of 13 on his way to 19 points. Now that Waldron knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
