Soccer Game Preview: Woodward Academy vs. Lakeside

The Woodward Academy War Eagles will take on the Lakeside Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Woodward Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. They blew past Shiloh 6-3 on Thursday.

Woodward Academy hit Shiloh with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Lola Manuel (2), Kelsey Drayton (2), Nia Thompson, and Corinne Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, Lakeside put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Decatur a 2-0 shutout. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Lakeside, they pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Woodward Academy beat Lakeside 3-1 when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Will Woodward Academy repeat their success, or does Lakeside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
