Softball Recap: Cumby Takes a Loss

Cumby was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 13-3 to the Big Sandy Wildcats, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 11-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Ella Horne was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Kiersten Walden also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Cumby's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Big Sandy, they moved to 3-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coming up, Cumby will take on Alba-Golden at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Big Sandy, they will challenge Hawkins at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
