Softball Game Preview: Lakeland Cavaliers vs. Great Bridge Wildcats

Lakeland hasn't had much luck against Great Bridge recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cavaliers will welcome the Wildcats at 5:45 p.m. Lakeland has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lakeland came up short against Nansemond River on Wednesday, falling 11-4. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Great Bridge faced Hickory in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 4-3. The Wildcats have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Bailey Bliven spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

Lakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Great Bridge, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
